On July 31, 2019, at approximately 8:45 a.m. the Punta Gorda Police Department responded to the Bank of the Ozarks (Bank OZK), located at 3855 Tamiami Trail, in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers encountered a subject walking away from the bank property who matched the general description of the suspect that had been provided and ordered him to stop. The subject fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. This subject, identified as Brian Lamar Davis of Fort Myers, was questioned, but there was no evidence tying him to the robbery. He was charged with Resisting an Officer Without Violence.

During the investigation bank employees stated that an unknown black male wearing a black, red, green, and yellow colored knit cap, a black bandana over his face, and a dark colored sweatshirt entered the bank, brandished a firearm, and demanded money. The suspect then left with an undisclosed amount of money.

UPDATE: The suspect is believed to have left the area in a black in color Lincoln Zephyr four-door sedan depicted in the attached photo.
